1. Further developments were made to the web services this week. They are operational in terms of being services, though a couple of them still require functionality completed to deliver more useful outputs.
2. I tested accessing the test service via php, Taverna, and also using a site called soapclient.com. It works fine.
3. Graeme checked that he could access the test service via Taverna. It was successful. He will have a look at the updated services when he is back from holiday - NOTE: Graeme is on holiday during week 6.
4. I received a response from Marco, who is interested in taking part in the project but is unavailable until week 8. However, this should be acceptable and will provide me some time to develop the admin system and to write some dissertation material. Once Marco is ready, we will be able to devise a user test of the new functionality.
5. Wendy was contacted by a user who has an idea for applying the NPD data to his project, so I will contact him also to see if there is any beneficial crossover possibilities there.
6. Having met with Ally Hume concerning the suitability of ogsadai to this project, it has been confirmed that it is not the ideal option. Therefore, work will continue on the basis that "traditional" web services will provide the completed system, but that suggestions where ogsadai may be beneficial in future will be included in the dissertation. Thus, there will be no further active development of ogsadai on this project, but it will still be considered in an academic sense. If it turns out that user tests with Marco show ogsadai is required, the functionality will still be available to build on it at that point, though this now seems unlikely.
7. There will be some slight changes to the project plan in light of recent discoveries, in that I will complete the admin system over week 6 and 7, and try to write alot more into the dissertation. Week 8 will see the start of user testing, to be completed in week 9 or 10.
